HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLERS & LOCATORS

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Operating directional drill and locator equipment
  • Operating backhoe, mini-ex, skid steer, small powered equipment and hand tools
  • Install and repair sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe
  • Operate construction equipment, including but not limited to a directional drill operation on Vermeer
  • Load, transport, and unload tools, materials, and equipment in a safe manner
  • Locate cables in accordance with Identify marked/unmarked utilities in the construction area
  • Hand dig utilizing shovel and/or other mechanical tools as required
  • Organize materials and the basic hand tools necessary to complete excavation requirements
  • Restore and/or landscape disturbed areas of the job site
  • Complete all required Company documentation

Qualifications:

  • Preferred minimum 1-year experience with directional drilling and locating
  • Experience operating underground utility and telecommunication
  • Ability to think logically about work at hand and compare site conditions with project
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with supervisors, peers and clients
  • Ability to travel where projects dictate
  • Ability to detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriate
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to work long and unpredictable hours
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
  • Criminal Background Check as required for secure sites
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications/Assets:

  • Three (3) years Directional drilling and locating experience with installing Telecommunications or Hydro underground utilities
  • Class 3 License w/ Air
  • Class 3 License w/ Air would be an asset
  • Experience operating Heavy Equipment

Locations include: Winnipeg, Oak Bluff, Altona, Winkler, Morden, Plum Coulee

Hours of Work: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm

Hour Wage Range: $24.00 – $30.00 (depending upon experience, qualifications)
