CANCELLED: Spring Break Camp – Tim Hortons Whiteshell Location
As a result recent COVID-19 outbreak, MET will be taking precautionary measures by cancelling Spring Break Camp.The Manitoba Metis Federation in partnership with Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, is hosting a spring break camp. All applications submitted are reviewed and 100 Youth are selected to attend. Selected youth participate in a camp experience designed to develop life and leadership skills providing the building blocks for youth engagement.
Our Youth Programs focus on providing employment and training supports & services to Youth across the province and are designed to develop and strengthen work ethic, community engagement, leadership abilities, provide opportunities for career exploration and enhance employability & life skills. Programs support social development and encourage life-long learning by providing opportunities for career exploration, skill development, work experience, employment preparation, job search supports, and entrepreneurship. We encourage and support our Youth by celebrating their achievements and successes throughout their journey.
Youth programs and services are coordinated throughout the province through a network of Youth Coordinators within the Regional offices.
MMF Annual Youth Conference
The MMF Annual Youth Conference, held in conjunction with the MMF Annual General Assembly, targets specific themes each year to assist youth in career decision making, provide them with information on labour market demands and trends and exposure to various careers, employers and industries. In addition to the Youth Conference, youth delegates attend events at the MMF Annual General Assembly and are exposed to and engaged in our Metis governance and business.
Provincial Youth Council
The Provincial Youth Council provides a link between the MMF Board of Directors and our Métis youth and our communities by providing recommendations to the Minister of Heritage, Culture, Sports & Youth on issues that impact our Métis youth and our communities as well as recommendations to ensure that our Youth programs and services are reflective of the needs of their needs.
The Provincial Youth Council provides a voice for Métis youth through advocacy and consultation and strives for youth involvement in the community by encouraging inclusion and opportunity.
